Moemi Mercury, the I-sing-queen-songs-medley-alone-at-karaokes-for-6-hours girl, is starting to get some push now, huh?
I say good for this little exposure she's getting.
So she's got this new MC gig for Music+ and also sung bg vocals for Juice-Juice's Ça Va, Ça Va -although you can't hear her, similar to Country Girls' Koi Dorobou as it's buried so far in the back. We only know this because she says so in her blogs. It's definitely something to note that the company will not only hire her for demo track guide vocals, but bg vocals for H!P official released songs that she didn't compose and generally has nothing to do with as well. She's most likely the only one doing this -there is zero evidence on anybody else.
Anyway while I like her enthusiasm and all on Freddie, it just sounds amateurish due to the difficulty of the chosen song, namely "I was born to love you". I'm referring to her TV appearance back in February where she also sang that one. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing her wearing a leotard (or chest bearing clothes like the host said) and strutting around on stage or something, but I'm afraid she will just turn into Lady Gaga... Also perhaps toning down the caricature imitation of Freddie as that's done countless times (so she watched the Live Aid
). Heck, probably I shouldn't expect too much on this and let her do her things without saying much... It's just that she's got enough potentials to actually be professionally good at covering certain songs singing-wise and as it is, it's a bit too close to the whole idol thing where sucking/being bad/nothing special at something somehow turn into a charm, at least for me.
