I don't even know what she is singing about and I feel like crying. Why she wasn't added to Morning Musume is a mystery. I really hope she is either added to Morning Musume or a new group... and soon. I don't want her beautiful voice to go to waste.
^It's probably a combination of her being too polished, therefore being serious competition for the front girls (Riho and Sakura) and not having a strong enough idol feel to her (at least I think so, to me, she seems more like an artist than an idol). It could also be that Tsunku doesn't think her voice would go too well with Riho and Sakura's.
Like Tsunku said in his letter that was read out loud at 24hr TV. It's not about whether you're good at singing or dancing. It's about if you have the will/desire to change yourself.
Now, that's of course not how it goes down every single time. Sometimes they prioritize one thing over another. But it speaks for itself. Being a good dancer/singer does not mean that you're guaranteed a place in the group.
I guess for all we know Ruru could have cried through the entire audition like Mogi Minami. Something like that would certainly change my opinion of whether or not she was ready to debut. But seeing as she was in ASH, I feel like she would have already been pretty comfortable under pressure and have experience working with other girls in a group setting. We didn't really get to see audition footage so I can't know if its another Sara Murakami scenario where she just didn't show any growth during training.
She's amazing though, both vocally and in dance skill. She's been in Kenshuusei a while too now so I'm hoping debut is around the corner. I just don't want to see her linger around in KSS like we've seen some other girls. Thankfully H!P hasn't pulled a Kikka in a while and put Karin in a new group. The KSS have more opportunities now than ever so I'm hoping shes going to be one of the lucky ones.
This is an excellent series of videos that covers the three-year "upheaval" of H!P (2010–2013), from the graduation of EriJunLin through the debut of Juice=Juice…
