Did all the nutjobs decide to jointly go on a rampage this weekend?
Pretty sure this is going to seriously affect how handshakes are handled in the future.
At least for AKB. But what happens for them affects all idols in some fashion.

Apparently so.
The members who got injured deserve a hiatus. They might undergo trauma, and feel scared/awkward being in handshake events and stuff.
If they go back to handshake events immediantly after this incident, I'm going to be pissed. But management most likely won't do that to them, knowing the situation.

You can't really blame this incident on handshake events. A friend of mine's dad was stabbed to death in broad daylight. For a while yeah she was afraid to go out in the street alone but eventually you can't let your life be ruined by the fact that violent and crazy people exist.

Just because someone's in the state of mind to hurt/kill other people doesn't mean they have a mental illness. A lot of the time they're just massive assholes (which is an understatement, really).

That's true, as far as it goes. Our prisons are full of such assholes.

But mental illness often is a factor when a person commits an extravagantly violent act in public, with no discernible purpose beyond the act itself and with no thought for the possible consequences.

I know that, but it takes people some time to get over things, especially something violent. I think they should just take a while off, and when they personally feel that they're ready, then they can start participating in events again.

Apparantly, metal detectors have or are being installed at most (if not all) xxx48 theaters.

Upon the request from local police, (...)they're considering to place acrilyc plate inbetween members & fans

To prevent fans from coming too close, HKT48 hired security guards, while SKE & NMB had front row seats blocked off.
