The only thing I can relate the setting to dieting is a futuristic simulation/training room.

You know, in those scifi anime/movies/shows where the people are in a simulation room and when simulation is over it's like that grid-like effect and then a dark-ish room like that.

Or better yet, in fighting games, like Tekken and Street fighter, you have those Training Stage that are basically grid rooms.

So...to an extent, it KINDA relates to it, and their outfits are kinda stylish but ready to kick space butt kinda outfits (to me anyways ) so...THEY'RE TRAINING TO FIGHT FAT SPACE MONSTERS!

I don't mind Maasa's weightgain (I just hate the way they style her 8D)
