I stopped caring for Melon Kinenbi once they turned... weird. :P
But TM Revolution, as much as I don't listen to him (though he is amazing man, that voice and those lungs wtf) that type of music is right up my alley. I'd say Aikawa Nanase's "Yume miru shoujo ja irarenai" is that type of music as well. I'd freaking LOVE it if Lovendor got to do similar things.

This whole topic was brought up, by the way, when Nishikawa asked "Why did you cover this?"
A completely acceptable question and here, if she truly was an "idol" Reina would have come up with something that sounded good and made sense. But she didn't, she simply said "Because we were told to."

Yeah. So. Please, UF. Listen to the girls and what they wanna do please. I liked the cover album, it was neat and a great starting point, I just hope they actually do give the girls freedom enough to do what they want. And I fear that... they simply won't. .__.
They should definitely have something out towards the end of the year though... they can't just live on a cover album while still going to all those lives they're gonna take part in in November and stuff.

TM Revolution did the third ending theme for Rurouni Kenshin - "Heart of Sword - Yoake Mae" in case you need a concrete example.

^ that was helpful http://www.4shared.com/mp3/nnpAxOL_/03_heart_of_sword-yoake_mae-.html
it appears that he doesn't even compose or write most of his stuff either
"Despite most of his songs being written by Akio Inoue and composed/arranged by Daisuke Asakura (also TMR’s former producer)" ... from wiki link from JonCC above

I hope LoVendor don't end up looking like him. Can't tell if he's man or woman. :fear:

Actually most of TMR songs I'm familiar with are from animes (Gundams, Soul Eater etc)

Yeah, this XD
I'm not sure how giving complete freedom and total control to the band members at this point is beneficial to them when 1. They're all new to this 2. The only experienced member in general showbiz has been doing a mostly different thing than what they're doing right now. It's a balancing act, more input from the girls and guiding feedback from the management is the ideal ofc and I'm cautiously optimistic that's how it actually worked behind the scenes, or something resembling it at the very least.

The reason is I have some hazy memories of Reina naming some of the songs(or at least its style) Lovendor has covered now as her favorites even before the band was formed, can someone corroborate on this or is it just me imagining things? So I doubt she doesn't have any say at all on her band's choices in cover songs like she implied in that clip and in a way her failing to mention that in the video is not terribly out of character for Reina, she has never been exactly the uhh...diplomatic or eloquent type in interviews ^^;

Never heard anything about how she wanna cover Izumi Shigeru's stuff to be honest. She likes old Jpop, but this isn't even pop but more folk. As much as I'd like to think that Reina has a lot to say, I really don't think so. But yeah, like I said, I do hope that they (UF) asks the girls what hey wanna do. I really do. And I hope they listen. I'm not saying that they should produce themselves or anything, but Reina has written in her blog how she's wanted to do this and that kind of music but I can't say that the cover album seems that way at all? She did get to do "Yumemiru shoujo..." which definitely made her happy. But, doing a song in concert isn't the same as releasing something.

I definitely hope I'm being too pessimistic towards UF, I really do. And I hope I'll never be proven right -- even if I am right I hope they listen to Nishikawa and that way that they start listening more to the girls and so we will never know. But... yeah. I just don't think too highly of UF when it comes to stuff outside of H!P (which just started looking better recently, anyway).

Thanks Sohee again for more summary and translation. I have to say again that I completely agree with Nishikawa. If LovendoR is going to be a band, it needs an identity, and it must be something that every members agree upon and willing to put all their effort. Right now they are the speakers that play music, not musician. If they want to be an idol band, fine, but that is not going to work because I think Yuki and Marin do not want that. So go figure UF*, LoverndoR, or whoever, they have to decide before their major debut because if they just going to do it half-ass, it is not gonna last long. You can read on wikipedia about all the famous band and what they have been though.

Reina seems to be enthusiastic on making things better though ... at least she asked the fan for more comments on her blog and promised to not delete them.

To be quite honest, I'm disappointed with their cover album too so yeah... I can see where you're coming from in terms of release.
Nevertheless they already had what, 2-3 original songs under their belt so far (which I love btw, why the hell aren't they releasing this as a single yet again?) and they're keeping busy with live house tours and guest appearances in events, pretty high profile ones and overseas even!

My impression of UF over the years is that they're very set in their course for better or worse and relatively slow to react/evolve so I'd say Lovendor's not too shabby for a new, branching effort from them :P

That said, I'll only give them the benefit of the doubt for so long, say... until the end of the year. If by then they still haven't done anything more noteworthy than their current set of activities, not even a debut single, I'll grab my torch and pitchfork and join you on the other side

^
Yeah, I think Lovendor as a completely independent band, creating their own music and whatnot is never going to happen, and that's completely fine with me! XD
Not every band needs to be that way and some will say that they're not a real band, they're "manufactured" etc etc but as long as the members are fine with the direction they're pointed to go at by their management overlords and they put out listenable, enjoyable songs and performances that stuff won't matter much to me.

Well that's like saying a symphony orchestra is not musicians, they are just speakers.
What were they suppose to use for music those four girls that never had met each other before?
They wouldn't be where they are now if not for the cover album.

I do hope the girls get to do their own music eventually. They totally should be able to. But even if that's not their main songs that's fine. Reina's said she wanna write lyrics anyway... And Yuki does write music, probably Marin does too.

^
^Actually they have four original songs. Maybe even more? I do hope they plan for another release soon, be it single or mini album with ORIGINAL tracks. Reading through the comments on one of Reina's blog posts, there were quite a few that commented saying they didn't buy the cover album and they want an original one already.

Lol. They didn't buy it but I bet they downloaded it. Otherwise, why would they want original stuff if they knew they sucked? :hehe:
