I don't understand this whole Berryz being treated worse. Both Sayonara Usotsuki no Watashi and Golden Chinatown are kickass songs, the PVs were enjoyable with good camera work and the outfits are fine. I know most people prefer the Golden Chinatown ones and hate on the Sayonara, I thought it was fine though. They especially look good on Miyabi :P I really don't see C-ute or S/mileage getting better treatment except with a one off here and there. Even Morning Musume's last 2 PVs weren't all that if you try to look at them budgetwise.

It really is the girls themselves. Miyabi, Risako and sometimes Momoko show enthusiasm with their work. The other girls are lacking and they do look bored like they don't want to be there. If you look at some backstage videos (for hello project youtube episodes), Berryz girls try to run off, hide, aren't very talkative while others are the opposite. They come off as rude and thinking highly of themselves.

How so?

This.

I wouldn't say they come off as rude as much as many of them come off as simply being uninterested. Yes, being shy is one thing. But when a junior comes to talk to you for TV you don't sit around doing nothing and feeling awkward, you SAY SOMETHING. Hello! Station whatever episode. On TV you don't sit around having nothing to say, but you do something to seem interested. For MVs you don't just look at the camera when you don't sing, you act along with the lyrics even when you DON'T SING to KEEP BEING INTERESTING. Seriously. Yes, be shy all you want and I'm sure many people are fans because they have been fans for so long etc. But there's no way in hell that they'll get NEW fans when they don't appeal to them at all. They used to when they were kids and more outgoing but... eh. Growing up = being mature = being quiet? Doesn't work for showbiz, especially not when your gen-mates and juniors are doing such a much better job. If they don't want to get bigger or gain new fans that's fine I guess. Just disappointing.

They just need more stability. To think that they'll take off with one single is stupid.

C-ute's comeback from Shock took a long time, and it was through consistent good releases did fans come back and sales increased.

Berryz are nowhere near their actual potential despite management's push and whatever singles they're given.

FWIW I've always thought Chinami rocks at close-up-ing. And in my opinion she is interesting on TV  Miya, Momo and Chinami get it right most of the time, I think. Risako is dead weight on TV, with Yurina and Captain being just there. Actually Maasa is a bit more entertaining than them, she was okay in that show with Haruna.

I really hope this single breaks 30k too, I think it shouldn't be hard since double a-sides tend to sell better than regular singles.

In cha cha SING, Succha ka meccha ka and Asian Celebration (the solo shots I can remember) Chinami (and Yurina and Maasa and often Risako tbh and Momoko) were boring as fuck to watch.

On TV... uh. Chinami barely speaks. At least not the last few times. When she and Momoko went on PON it was the first time in fucking forever she was somewhat interesting --- and only because Momochi was there. She'd never be able to stand on her own... Which isn't what I'm asking for anyone in the group tbh as they can't, but just saying.

I love Risako a lot. I think her expressions are spot on. her dancing is good, and she can sing like no one's business. The problem with her, I think, is that she's shy. The kind of shy she is is perfectly fine in real life, but not at all in entertainment. She needs to be TV shy. Eri was TV shy. It's a strange kind of outgoing shy where you do weird things but are still called shy. I know Risako is weird from her blog (Buying a ring that looked like teeth, whhaatt?) but I don't know that from her actions. She's boring, frankly. And that's a shame. She's a front girl, whether she likes it or not, and she needs to do something with that status.

I same could be said for all the girls in Berryz. They are idols, they need to DO SOMETHING WITH THAT STATUS. I feel Momoko does it well, and Miyabi - when she's being kind of mean - does it pretty well to. I am utterly disappointed by Chinami and Maasa when I see them on TV though. Utterly. Chinami was always at the bottom of my ranking, until Dschinghis Khan. That video was like Chinami heaven, she was so funny in it and stood out a LOT for me. I praised her up and down and all over, saying that's how to get attention and what not. I noticed other people who weren't me pay attention to her during this time as well. My roommate became a fan of her during this time. Maasa and Chinami were also really funny during that time when I watched stuff. Now-a-days I feel like I harbor loyalty to Chinami purely based on 2008 Chi. I loved 2008 Chi, I don't know who this person is in 2013. I just want 2008 Chi to come back. Same with Maasa, except also 2010 Maasa. 2010 Maasa was fighting Maasa, she was damn great. And it wasn't because she was thinner either, 2010 Maasa was on TV, getting attention, she was in your face and she made you pay attention. 2013 Maasa is quiet and sticks to the back. For God Sake Maasa you were in a movie, you should have done something with that and you DIDN'T. You just went back to the back, pretending that never happened. MAAASSAAA.

Anyway because of this rant, I went and watched Dschinghis Khan for the first time in probably 2 years. Then I watched Cha Cha Sing and I do not know man, it's like night and day.. DK was full of energy and spark and fun, Cha Cha Sing, while a fun song, they really just stood around with a half baked smile. The dancing had little energy and they looked mostly like they were going through the motions. The best shots were when they were all singing in front of the camera as a group and doing their own thing, but it's still night and day from DK - where they looked like they were having fun throughout the entire video. 2008 Berryz would have killed Cha Cha Sing and blew 2013 Berryz out the water. And I don't think it's an age thing at all, they can still be goofy as all hell from at ages 19-21.

But I still like both these songs on this single so I'm just gonna hope they start caring again.

No idea what you guys are talking about in regards to Chinami. Taking a look at her Want! solo version, she handled it with mature subtlety. Plus she's ridiculously gorgeous with her long hair. Chinami in PVs like this and Otakebi Boy WAO > the rest of the H!P Kids.

As far as personality, she's done a great job representing the group with all their international publicity. Tons of personality. She also jumped all over taking advantage of using twitter when given the opportunity. Why is she being derided for not stepping over Captain or Momoko when in settings where they are clearly supposed to be the first voice of the group, or when she's background fodder on some local program as they discuss the news?

That goes for the majority of the group. Even when they're looking downtrodden, they still show more personality in their pinkies than C-ute. C-ute's allure starts and stops with their stage presence.

EDIT: LOVING YOU TOO MUCH is one of the best H!P PVs in the last few years. Tons of fun and personality.

And Chinami is DK levels of crazy in it.

Sorry but I didn't find anything special in the video. I forced myself to finish it though. It's a boring close up ver PV.
