Brutality of war.
These pics are from Finnish war archive and were considered brutal enough to classified for 60 years.

Soviet spy caught in home front. They were part of NKVD, not military so they weren't considered prisoners of war. For that reason they were just interrogated and shot instead of put into POW camp.
