I'm not going to have a massive discussion about this because I don't know a whole hell of a lot about business. That said, Mainstream existed before Kago and they have more clients than just her.

Are you sure? I remember it otherwise.

Now they do, perhaps, but I remember that even as screwed up as she was, Kago was the first and biggest name on their roster. Her income helped to finance everything else, just like H!P's income helps to finance everything else at UFA. Without the principal, the business downsizes at best or completely collapses at worst. I've personally seen it happen to a dozen different tech startups.

My understanding is that R&A Productions/Mainstream is the same company that Thane Camus was a part of several years ago. Thane tried to leave that company and had a super hard time of it.

This is all coming from chatter from three years ago when Kago was first coming back from her stuff. I haven't tried to delve super-deeply into it, but... it definitely doesn't seem as though the agency was made just for her.

Evnn if it was, like, a sub-agency just for her, their website hasn't been updated since 2008. Oo;;

Hmm. Maybe. I just remember that at the time of Kago's comeback, a big deal was made of her "very new" agency.

But at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised that they're assholes who routinely exploit talents who don't have the leverage to get better deals. Kago? Disgraced idol. Camus? Foreigner. Same difference for the purposes of this discussion.

In the end, however, it doesn't change the basic facts of how a business depends on its principal and how the business might seek damages if the principal leaves, for whatever reason.

That's true. Though according to Kago and her lawyer, her contract with Mainstream/whoever was legally dissolved more than a year ago. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out in the courts.

A terribly blurry photo of Kago's sister.

Even she remarks how much they look like each other.

Possibly Tsuji's husband Taiyou and daughter Noa? The description on the uploader was just "間違い (mistake)", so I dunno.

and i remember thinking how scarily her mom resembles her (well it's the other way around, it's just hard to think of it that way knowing Kago so well), so i can imagine doing a double-take if i saw all three of them walking around together. XD
