I was expecting that the quality of Miki's English speaking was exaggerated, but after listening I can agree that she sounds legit. Sounds pretty fluent. Almost native.

The 1st thing I noticed is that Tsunku didn't go for 4 girls with a distinctive individual look, like in pretty much all the earlier 4 girl generations. Of course they will get the usual new Morning Musume member makeover treatment, giving them an individual look. But can't see that this generation will for example have a Konkon, Kanon or a Haruka.

This makes it more interesting how they develop in the 1st year, it could mean that there will be a bigger focus on personality.


These 4 are also proof of a statement made by one of the members here after an earlier audition or an addition to the Kenshuusei that Ayacho is pretty much the prototype for the looks that Tsunku is looking for. I can see more then a bit of Ayacho in all of these, especially looking at the facial structure.

There's still a clear accent, but I know from experience that that's also influenced by the fact that she's speaking to a sea of Japanese people that probably don't really speak much English. Basically you don't want to sound pretentious.

MIKI'S ENGLISH IS SO CUTE AND PRETTY OMG.

She sounds a lot like Kaori from Bakosute--the accent is there, and she puts emphasis on some of the wrong syllables, but her pronunciation is clear and smooth and the words flow well which indicates she doesn't have to think too hard about what word comes next.
