... no?

Yes, but not significantly. If you don't care about the difference between 128 and 256 Kbps, then you wouldn't even notice the degradation from a save like that.
However, if you're buying the CD, then simply join the tracks when you rip it.

When possible, I always output at 320 Kbps with Audacity, I honestly never notice any downgrade.

There are also programs that can just merge files, with absolutely no conversion involved.
But realistically, as Cel says, just rip them as one track.

^ Perhaps (I'd have to see it for myself), but I know Audacity can't do it. Not unless you're going from AIFF to AIFF, for example.
Side note: I know 320 Kbps MP3 is the unofficial standard of teh Interwebz, but it seems to me like such a waste of disk space.

Couple of freeware joiners:
http://www.makeitone.net/audio/mp3albummaker.htmhttp://www.shuangsoft.com/Shuangs_Audio_Joiner.asphttp://www.shchuka.com/software/mergemp3/and lastly, one that looks rather suspicious to me only because the home page is a little bit TOO slick, and contains a crapload of supposedly totally free programs with no links to review/recommendation sites. So I would recommend not using this one but, dunno, if you have a virtual windows image, you might want to poke it and see if any viruses pop out.
Disclaimer: I haven't tested any of the above links and can't guarantee that they won't totally trash your pc. Although makeitone's progam is also on CNET
here, and their software is usually pretty reliable.
