Daisuki Daiiyo wrote:How do you explain Morocco then? Who are pretty much Berryz on acid X 10  Berryz could have easily went that route but as has been said 1928167+6919*8 times, they just don't want it bad enough.

Because Momoclo has been getting awesome, crazy singles non-stop for ages now. These are Berryz' last 7 singles:

- Heroine ni Narou ka!
- Ai no Dangan
- Aa, Yo ga Akeru
[Huge momentum-killing pause, after their lowest selling single since 2006 no less]
- Be Genki <Naseba Naru!>
- cha cha SING
- WANT!
- Asian Celebration

Pretty much the only song there that can be compared with Momoclo's crazy stuff is cha cha SING. It's impossible to build any kind of momentum like that, Berryz can't "easily go that route" when they get stuff like Ai no Dangan thrown at them. I still think 2011 was a pretty big train wreck for them and they're still recovering. cha cha SING pretty much resurrected the group.

Also, speaking of Momoclo, they got big even with sub-Maasa vocals XD

Short haired Captain is best Captain Image Now please go back to black and it'll be perfect again.

You like to talk about Ai no Dangan and Yo ga Akeru but Be Genki was the bigger flop.

I think the difference between Momoiro Crobat and Berryz is that the former has the full support of their company. Berryz isn't going to magically sell over night no matter how good their songs are.

I absolutely never claim Be Genki to be what Berryz needs. To be fair, though, it was released 7 months after the huge bomb that was Aa, Yo ga Akeru and sold roughly 500 copies less, both tanking in 17k territory.

I never said that you said it's what Berryz need either but you never group it with the other flops.

Sometimes I wonder what single can be considered a flop with Berryz these days. I still love the girls, just trying to adapt to their new sales averages.

It;s not just the song itself. It is image too. The outfits and styling of the girls in Be Genki was pretty awful....risako's hair in Be Genki especially.

the outfits in AC were really baad but at least their hair was nice.

I love Asian Celebration and Be genki song-wise was okay. I'm also like the only person who quite likes Risako's ponytail in that video. But the outfits sucked. Both are so much better than monkey dance though - except for maybe outfit-wise, but it's not the outfits I'm listening to.

Having that said, compared to the rest of H!P (even S/mileage), these latest singles are only so good.

Asian Celebration is pretty meh for me, Yuke2 monkey ... yeah no.
I like Be Genki enough (-minus the costume)
My most recent favorite from Berryz though is Cha Cha Sing
Confused yet XD ? It's part of their charm and challenge that they're kinda all over the place I guess lol

What is this nonsense? Be Genki costumes were awesome. I worship everything about that single, really  Which is why I don't group it with the 2011 bombs even if it totally belongs there numbers-wise.

Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance is godly too, and actually one of their most successful singles - stuff like Monkey Dance, Otakebi and cha cha SING is what I think Berryz needs to do consistently. These are songs that in my mind are very particularly Berryz-like, and coincidentally get good numbers.
