I imagine it was more to do with the show producers only wanting Berryz on the show if Momoko is there since she is the only one of them with any sort of notoriety on TV in Japan.

i think Sasshi has entered into my top 5 favorite AKB girls (granted, that's not saying much because even my #1 i'm only a fickle fan that doesn't pay attention to much about her).
