On a lighter note they performed Ima Sugu at the H!P concert today and I can confirm solo lines. After MaaChel, Sayashi and Mizuki have the most prominent ones and the other usual suspects have a line as well (Sakura and Ayumi). Other than them, Eripon, Harunan and Maria each have a full line.

Also the same 4 from Oh my Wish! are the main dancers for the dance break in Ima Sugu.

It may annoy you, but it's PR gold. Even HERE it's PR gold. Think about all the bigger actress and actors who suddenly lost weight and got SO MUCH ATTENTION for it.

I mean I could go on and on and on. The public eats that stuff up and it's an easy way for someone to get super popular for being "inspirational"

Kanon should ride this wave to constant Variety appearances and magazine covers and laugh while she eats her celery (I don't think she got super skinny though!)

Also, I agree with Kyu - it wasn't her fat that made her popular overseas. LOLO Why would they even think that? Everyone loved her weirdness way before she got fat.

Also, don't think anyone really expected anything different than the main people being the mains in the other songs... but it ain't much of a problem, because we have Oh My Wish for once so yeah.

Also about the Kanon thing- we should really do like some sort of collaborative message and send it to Kanon's fanmail or something.
Like actually a full-fledged letter written in Japanese (we have enough resources here on Jplop for that...) voicing our opinions on the matter to make her understand that it wasn't her weight (so she knows that no matter how her weight fluctuates, the foreigners still love her), and then at the end signed with all of our names. Anyone else agree? :O Or would it not work because of the staff probably not letting it get to her?

It's dumb they think thats the reason - probably because they think Americans are all fat or something. I can tell you Kanon was my favorite during the lull between 9th and 10th gen and I liked her because she was so. freaking. weird. The toilet skit she did pretty much cemented it for me.

(Then 10th Gen happened and Kanon started being really depressed looking for awhile so she dropped on my ranking, but that's neither here nor there.)

In a way how we viewed her weight does change our opinion of Kanon compared to Japan.

For a lot of Japanese fans I've talked to, Kanon's weight led them from supporting her in favor of other girls. To them her weight reflected upon her badly and they considered her lazy and "not doing her job as an idol". This is just how many Japanese, unfortunately, view weight. I've almost gotten into huge arguments with friends I thought were very logical and fair because I was so shocked when they suddenly started spouting crap like that.

For Americans though... we don't even see her as being that overweight, just built bigger. And even if we do think she's bigger, we don't let that color how we view her as an idol. It doesn't eclipse her awesome personality and her abilities as a performer. And that's where Japanese's mind gets blown so they decide this means that because we view weight differently in America we like Zukki... which leads them back to what they keep making "jokes" about. Americans are stereotyped as "bigger" so they don't understand how wrong it is to be "bigger" as an idol, so they like the "bigger" idol. I'm pretty positive, from the gifts she got, she knows it isn't her weight that makes foreigners like her, but it's easy to fall into the mindset of those around you.

The only bad thing I can spot about these covers is Daaishi's face in the second cover. xD It's very... Wakuteka-esque...no?

Notable:
Ikuta is center in the first one. (and almost center in another)
Nonaka and Maachan are center in two of the covers! (with ogata in one)
Duu appears as center in THREE of the covers! :O
