If you don't have a blu-ray player I reckon the simplest thing to do is to just keep 'em in the case and torrent the content off of a!o or jps.

If you never upgraded to Blu-ray but still have a DVD player, those have always been able to play CDs, too.

I don’t have any of those things lol. I might just get something that plugs into my MacBook Air via USB, though a standalone CD player would be nice too for the listening experience of just focusing on the CD as an album and not like just part of everything else connected to the internet. I haven’t downloaded music from torrents in ages now since I’d just use Spotify. I barely keep files on my laptop since for work stuff we’d just use Google Workspace.

I can’t imagine downloading and organizing music files anymore lol. I started collecting a vinyls mostly because you get a bigger version of the album artwork plus they’re kind of pretty, but I don’t even have a record player.

I got a Blu-ray player mainly because Japanese Blu-ray are under the same region as the US so it gave me an incentive to buying H!P Blu-ray concerts. Aside from listening to music, can’t say I ever used it for anything else.

An old PS2 or PS3 will also work.

I do have one of those. I think I used it maybe twice but when you need it for something it comes in handy I guess. Maybe you can just borrow one from a friend and then rip the music files yourself off the disc. I suppose it's possible albeit perhaps ethically gray to buy one and return it the next day, since it sounds like you only have a few discs.

There are table top cd players/radios on Amazon. Boom boxes often have cd drives too.
Another thing that can be done which I do not understand why nobody does is down load iTunes to your computer or laptop. Then load your cd’s into the iTunes on the computer. Then you can plug in a USB cord into the computer (not into the ceiling, the cord will be too short  ) and transfer via iTunes the music you want to your cell phone or iPod. That is what I do. I normally play music on my Windows table top computer because the stereo is awesome. Once you have music on your cell phone or iPod you can use blue tooth and a blue tooth speaker if you are in a WIFI environment. You can also backup your cell phone to the iTunes on your computer.

The overwhelming majority of what I have in iTunes was imported from CDs in my collection.

I bought a multi-region Blu-ray player when my multi-region DVD player gave up the ghost after ten years of faithful service. Around that time, some things were starting to come out on Blu-ray but not DVD, so it was a smart move.

I watch a lot of stuff on DVD and Blu-ray, and a large number of them are coded for non-U.S. regions. My collection of Region 2 Japanese DVDs alone is massive. Japan and the U.S. are both in Blu-ray Region A, but I like to be able to play Region B stuff from Germany and the U.K., too. This is even useful for Japanese films, since British companies like Arrow Video and Third Window Films often release Japanese films on Region B Blu-ray that never get a North American release.

I'm not as much of a vinyl junkie as some of my co-workers, but I still have a weakness for the stuff. My problem is that I tend to accumulate it faster than I get around to playing it!

I was in San Francisco Japantown with my nephew on Saturday and was happy to discover Tokyo Beatniks' Pop-Up Record Shop in the OK Marketplace, selling new and vintage Japanese vinyl. I got an Onyanko Club 45 (7-inch vinyl single) that was missing from my collection for $5.

Reading everyone's posts, by comparison my Plex server might just be an overkill way to enjoy my H!P content. :giggle:

I've got piles of vinyl,CDs, DVDs, and an increasing number of music performance blu-rays (not to mention 78s, cassettes, and 8-tracks). I've also got a whole rack of thrift-shop vintage electronics to play them on - and all I ever do is rip them to external HDs or put them on flash drives to listen to in my car. I guess that for me, the experience of physically having it there (the media, the packaging, the labels, the invisible and multiple trails of history which I semi-consciously attribute to each item) is in its own way part of the music.
