I don't believe in hating AKB48 just because I am a H!P fan, but I really haven't been in love with one of AKB48's songs since RIVER. (Which I still absolutely love) I like a few other songs (not love per say, but I like them) though I always felt that AKB and the 48's were more male oriented lyric wise and that the girls were a bit more sexualized so even though I liked a few songs I never really could get into the girls and stuff. That's just my opinion.

So I decided to see what Morning Musume's competition was and checked out Koi Suru Fortune Cookie. I don't like the song at all and I can't even recognize any of the faces of the girls. Like some of the well known ones are gone aren't they? I recognized maybe two faces

But the point is and the reason I wanted to post this is that I honestly think what AKB48 is doing and what Morning Musume is doing right now are two entirely different things. I don't even think you can compare the two and say who is better or worse. It would all be a matter of opinion and preference. There is no reason why both groups can't be at the top of the charts. Casual fans can love both of them and Morning Musume doesn't need to overtake them in order to regain their title. I said recently that I hope MoMusu reaches similar sales so that it can be at the level of healthy competition. I'd like a day when they can both be released and have sales that are almost equal.

My bias would want them to be #1 of course

Yeah, I like it better without the bottom part, although I had to push the text on top down a little so that their boots aren't dipping too much into my taskbar.

Eripon and Ayumi have great chemistry together. I also love how everyone in the group just seem to get along so well. 9th, 10th and 11th gen all seem to be quite close. I remember during the platinum era some of the girls didn't get along and often they paired up with one or two members that they got along with best.

I usually try not to pay much attention to sales figures (largely because most of my favorite groups don't sell enough to pay for a Big Mac and an order of fries ), but it's kind of hard to ignore this!

The current Morning Musume has basically undone about ten years of weak sales -- their 2013 Oricon numbers are close to (and with Wagamama, in the same range as) Morning Musume's 2003 sales. Just doing that is an incredible accomplishment.
