Random Thread ～Owaranai Insomnia '25 ver.～

We've hit the stinky part of spring here, in my neck of the woods. It's that perennial mélange of spring rain, tree pollen, hatching insects, and previously frozen animal corpses now thawing and rotting.

The punchline is that temperatures will be below freezing again this weekend. Northern parts of the state might even get more snow. It's still March, after all. We're hoping it will kill off some of the bugs.

Spring in DC = cherry blossoms.

I still need to find time to go out and see them before it's too late though.

There are a few places in the L.A. area with good cherry blossoms, but they're pretty far away, and for the moment, I'm still staying in. But it does feel very much like spring!

I have a cherry blossom tree in the front of my house, it’s not a Japanese one, but it makes pretty flowers. And I’m the fall makes a little cherry mess thanks in part to the birds.

A neighbor several blocks up has a flock of Indian Runner ducks.

Got my first vaccine shot today.

The side effects are a real pain in the ass, but yay vaccine.

I got mine too. So far I just have a sore arm, but I'll take that over covid symptoms.

Congrats! I was hoping for just the sore arm, but in addition to the upper arm my shoulder and neck hurt a lot (my neck especially), and I feel kind of yucky and just.. hot. I think I'd be happy to sleep in the freezer tonight.

I'm still waiting, but I'll finally be eligible starting Thursday.
