I think what otaku_blue might have wanted to say was that, before, Maachan was striving to be a better singer by kinda looking up to or looking at Oda as an example, but now, she's reached a level where she can duet with Sakura, as her close friend, and close rival.

yeah, what I mean is that their relationship has changed a lot from how Masaki used to treat her and more recently they've become really good friends. and its just really nice to see them now working together in a duet harmonising properly (something you need to be in sync with the other person to do well) and practicing really hard.

I think they have been good friends from pretty close to the beginning, if anything I think Sakura changed from being attached to either Eripon or Masaki to being more open.
