I can see why they probably went with a cover album first. Apart from more time to write new songs, but to get the band play good established songs so people can see that they can play well, and not just see if people like their music or not. Also, they're still kinda learning things.

Are UF considered a big agency or a small one? I get the impression they're small.

A thought has been rattling around in my mind about that TV appearance, and the things that Nishikawa said. When I read Sohee's summary, then watched the clips, I found myself thinking, "But doesn't Tsunku know all of this already? After all, he's a singer in a reasonably successful rock group from the same generation as TMR. he has to know what works for a rock group, as opposed to an idol group."

Which got me thinking about H!P and UF* management etc. Small or large, they're a big enough organization to have their own internal differences of opinion, and their own internal politics. Since they're corporate, we don't see much of it, but it must be there.

So maybe Tsunku does know everything that Nishikawa was talking about, and agrees with it. And maybe he's having a little trouble convincing other key people in UF* that these are points that they need to consider and take seriously.

So maybe he pushes to have Lovendor appear on the show, and talks with Nishikawa about some of these ideas beforehand, figuring that if Nishikawa says all of this on TV, it will carry a lot more weight than any argument that he could make in a corporate setting (or anything the girls could say), and it would make the discussion public.

That's actually a well-established strategy in politics -- get someone else (like a talk-show host) to bring up ideas which might stir up trouble, and take the heat for them...
If madness made us strong, we would all be invincible.

rikkikow: I'm sure some people downloaded it, but at the same time.. I remember reading about Japan having an interesting CD rental business as well. I imagine there are a couple of other non-download ways to preview songs (at least over here, there are some stores where you can scan a bar code and preview a few tracks before buying it.)

I think Tsunku's has very little do to with LoVendoЯ on the whole. The man's already swamped with work inside and outside H!P.

Oh and FYI, one of the reasons I tend to take what Nishikawa says seriously here is because he actually fronts a rock band: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abingdon_boys_school

They sing the songs at their tour too and I'm sure most fans went there as well without actually buying the album, especially since the tour started before the album went on sale. And remember the first day was streamed so most people saw that, too.
And UF Licks.

Tsunku certainly does know about it. But like TU said, I doubt Tsunku has much (if anything) to do with Lovendor at all. I remember Reina saying even that when they were given Joukyou monogatari, she didn't even talk to Tsunku about it but was just given it to her from someone else.

Tsunku and Nishikawa are friends though, so hey what TU said while maybe not likely, it's definitely not impossible. lolol. I'd love it tbh.

Actually I don't even care how they do it, just get UF to do this properly.

I meant Nishikawa's band, not Tsunku's.

This discussion is getting interesting. Like various theories about management.

^ They released an international single in 2012, which was also the theme song for a Playstation 3 game. They go through bouts of inactivity.

Thanks.

I should have read JonCC's wiki link more thoroughly. It only listed the albums properly. That single is only mentioned in the bio.
