You can get Blu-Ray quality on a DVD, but not on an official DVD-Video compliant disc, which only offers 720p (720x576) maximum resolution. So, bit rate and storage capacity issues aside, if you put a 1080p file on a pressed DVD-ROM disc or any recordable DVD format, it would not be able to be marketed as DVD-Video, and there would be no guarantee it could play in any set top device.

Zunu my mutli-region DVD player (Philips) has
"HDMI 1080p
with true high definition video upcompression"
blah blah blah
"The best HDMI mate for any TV with upcompression to 1080p."
What does this all mean? Are they talking about the TV being a 1080p TV or
the DVD player magically uping the pixel density to 1080p for a 1080p HD TV?
I don't have a HD TV (not enoungh credit card points yet).
My understanding is if you had a 1080p HD TV and the DVD is a 720p the
DVD player will do a compression to 1080p for the 1080p TV. Is that correct?
