Makes sense since Yuka and Sakura were both in the s/mileage audition and Yuka and Asahi were both in the upfront audition. I hope Sakura makes friends within Morning Musume though. Would be weird if her closest friends were outside of MoMusu.

Why? MM members have had closest friends outside of MM before, and Berryz' Risako's closest friend is Airi. Maimi's is Chinami. Haruna's supposedly is Wada Ayaka. Aika's is Hagiwara Mai.
Might be a good thing not to be too good friends with your working colleagues, even. Considering that could make you lose the sense of rivalry etc and might make working difficult when you're supposed to be serious. Eri's mentioned that working with Sayumi during radio and such were sometimes difficult cause they were too close friends so they couldn't "do things seriously". Might just have been the two of them, but you never know.

I do hope that Sakura becomes good friends with all of MM though of course. But maybe it's even better for her to have her best friend outside of the group.

I guess because she is a single gen and I don't want her to feel not a part of the group. I just hope Sakura posts blogs about spending time with her fellow MoMusu even if her closest friends are not in MoMusu.

Mikitty always seemed so disconnected from the group especially her gen. She was always with Aya and even within MoMusu she was closest to Yosshi her supposed senpai. It always just felt like Miki was a soloist who just so happened to be in Morning Musumes's singles and concerts

^I really don't think you need to worry about her not blending in with her group mates. I think most MM girls have written about spending time with Sakura in their respective blogs and the topic of her being able to make friends easily and adapt quickly to her surroundings has been mentioned quite a couple of times, just off the top of my head Sayu's KonUsaPi and the latest girls news.
