I'm on my phone so I can't watch right now. But if I remember that clip correctly, it's not just the angled My_ shot, but also lighting (using a white wall, or barring that, your laptop's glow!), clothing choice, scissoring your chin with your fingers, and putting thumbprinted tape over the lens.
So many options for not letting the world know you look like a normal person!
