Today is ME:I member Sakurai Miu's 22nd Birthday

Real Sound will be publishing articles introducing and analyzing each ME:I member

ME:I Member #4: Sakurai Miu, an experienced all-rounder who is close to her fans

Image

Late last year, they announced that they will hold their first fan concert "2024 ME:I LAUNCHING SHOW ME:ICONIC" in March, with the announcement of their debut single to be released on April 17, they are a girl group that is getting a lot of attention right now.

Among them, we picked up Sakurai Miu this time, who has overwhelming experience. Based on her behavior during the audition, let's examine how she will perform in ME:I in the future.

Having appeared on other survival audition programs in the past, she had an overwhelming aura from her first appearance on the program, and the trainees had overwhelming expectations for her, and she was chosen by them to play the center role in the theme song "LEAP HIGH!"

For example, the trainers pointed out that she was "showing signs of being conflicted in her performance" in the placement test. When they performed SPEED's "Body & Soul" in the group battle, she was also troubled by her own behavior within the group, and trainer Rino Nakasone pointed out that she needed to "increase the number of various pockets" and "incorporate the opinions of the open-minded (group) members." There were many occasions when she was unable to demonstrate her abilities as she wished.

However, Sakurai was invincible as she began to break through her conflicts with each performance. On stage, she generously demonstrated the dance and vocal skills she had always possessed. In the position battle, she chose JO1's "Shine A Light," the song for the vocal position, and led the way for the other trainees who were unsure of what to do. She was also proactive in offering suggestions for song arrangements.

If I had to describe Sakurai in one word, it would be an experienced all-rounder who is close to her fans. Because of her extensive experience and solid foundation, her dancing and vocals are impeccable. Moreover, the "&ME" performance in the concept battle in the latter half of the program and the "Sozoijou" performance in the final episode, she showed none of the conflicts and hesitation that the trainers had pointed out during the audition. The clear singing voice and expressive dancing that she had always possessed made her even more appealing and reaffirmed the high level of skill she possesses.

She also never fails to thank her fans by whispering "Arigatou" to the camera and waving to the national producers (viewers) gathered at the venue when she played the center of the theme song "LEAP HIGH!" and after her performance of "Sozoijou."

I felt that she understood firsthand the importance of having fans because she spent her days as a trainee, belonging to an office, and participating in audition programs but not being able to debut.

With such an active performance, she is sure to play a leading role in ME:I in terms of skills. Furthermore, I expect that she will use the experience she has accumulated to date to offer suggestions on how to present the show on stage in a way that will delight the fans in terms of attractiveness and composition. As one of ME:I's members aiming for the world, I look forward to seeing ME:I attract even more people.

Real Sound will be publishing articles introducing and analyzing each ME:I member

ME:I Member #5: Yamamoto Suzu, fluffy atmosphere with a steady and dependable performance

Image

17 year old Yamamoto Suzu placed fifth in the final ranking and will make her debut with "ME:I"

In this article, we will review her performance during the audition program and predict how she will perform in the group.

Yamamoto was ranked first in the initial ranking. The reason for this can be attributed to the influence of the theme song "LEAP HIGH!," which captured the hearts of many national producers (viewers).
https://produce101.jp/rank/index.php?week=2

The theme song was released at a time when the names and backgrounds of the trainees had not yet come to light. In the video, Yamamoto caught the eyes of many with her gorgeous visuals, facial expressions that changed from one moment to the next in time with the song, and her dance moves which were more distinct than those of other trainees. In fact, her performance became a hot topic of conversation on social media. There seemed to be a sense of surprise and satisfaction that Yamamoto came in first, ahead of so many others who had auditioned before.

Later, during the level placement test that was broadcast, Suzu instantly turned on the switch just as the song began to play, captivating the trainers by transforming the fluffy atmosphere she had been in up to that point. Many may remember that he elicited a comment from rap trainer KEN THE 390: "When Suzu-san's switched flipped, that was awesome."

However, even Yamamoto did not progress smoothly, which is the difficulty of survival audition programs. There were occasional moments when she felt she had to work on her expressive skills.

This was most evident during the position battle in the audition program, when they were practicing INI's "Rocketeer." It is a painful scene in which dance trainer YUMEKI clearly tells her that she had "zero expressive power." In response to these words, Yamamoto analyzed herself, saying that she was not giving her best. It was frustrating for viewers to see her worry that she lacks something more because she dances and sings perfectly and effortlessly. However, Yamamoto's strength was that she did not give up and overcame these difficulties, and during the second lesson, YUMEKI praised her by name, saying that "Suzu was especially good."

During practice for the concept evaluation "&ME," she also expressed her frustration at not being chosen as the center, which she had aspired to be. However, her mindset changed drastically after getting advice from Ishii Ran, who belongs to the group performing "Toxic," and was also selected as a debut member, taught her how to "perform with the thought that even if though I am not the center, you should be looking at me." Regardless of her position, she was responsible for leading the "&ME" group by doubling down on her skills to attract the viewer's attention.

After all these twists and turns, Yamamoto now has nothing to fear. If there is one thing that makes her attractive, it is the solid core she has acquired through karate, which she has practiced since childhood. Whether she is performing a charming song, a powerful tune, or a cute choreography, she always has a core. This is probably due to her solid torso.

The gap between her fluffy atmosphere during her talks and her high-resolution expression in tune with the songs she performs is also an appealing feature of hers. It is easy to imagine a future in which the national producers who watched her audition, as well as the viewers who "discovered" her on singing shows after her debut, will be hooked.

These attractions will no doubt make Yamamoto an appealing presence that will raise the group's appeal. Expectations are high for what kind of concept music she will be able to use in the future to showcase the expressive skills she developed during her audition.
