That type of thing is not without precedent, although the analogy I have in mind is a bit of a stretch. In my mind, I kind of think of H!P or more specifically Morning Musume as comparable on some level to the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Everyone has a passing familiarity with them in their country -- they're "national sweethearts" in a sense -- but their true fans are a fairly narrow niche. They have a generally wholesome reputation. They constantly replenish their roster. And, it turns out they do have at least one generational pairing. Cassie Trammell was the daughter of choreographer and former cheerleader Judy Trammell. (Apologies to hardcore DCC fans. I don't actually follow them at all, so the comparison is just on a superficial level)
