Some Japanese fans are being complete and total assholes toward Uta for referencing Momochi (yurushite nyan) in the new MV/song from her group. Sending tons of mean comments, generally giving her a hard time to the point she started crying during an Instalive. She also ended up asking people to stop talking badly about her mother and explained exactly why she left Country Girls (In short: single mother, was very ill, often made trips to the hospital, fear it was leading to cancer. Her mom told her to stay, she decided not to.)

Well her group is having it's first event (sold out by the way) right about now.
General consensus is that in person people will be quite supportive.

But yeah, humans are terrible beings. In other news: the earth is round and rain is wet.

Part of the problem is the indie nature of her group.
Making idols accessible is one thing, hiring a decent social media manager to filter out the crap is another.

It’s good of her to explain why she left although, she shouldn’t have to explain in the first place. This sounded very VERY personal.

Personally I don’t think those people are true fans of Uta, no one in their right mind would give her that much crap over a homage of Momoko’s iconic “Yurushite Nyan” and send hate towards her family for her decision in leaving CGs.

If that is the simple unvarnished reason, it seems on the face of it kinda shitty that UF didn't arrange some kind of leave of absence whereby she could easily return if the situation was resolved. Or maybe they did, and the situation became unworkable for other reasons. (Missing too much school, lingering complications meant she couldn't commit, any number of other perfectly legitimate reasons.) At any rate I'd like to think the current UF would make every effort to accommodate, even if they didn't back then.

I agree completely with TJ135 that fans don't need to or deserve to know her personal details. On the other hand, fame is fleeting, people are fickle, and they are under no obligation to remain loyal. Japanese fandom is unlikely to let a celebrity who has "transgressed" jump back into the limelight without a mea culpa, so she probably had to say something. Having done so, hopefully that's the end of it. And glad her mom is ok, that takes precedence over any career moves.
