Upfront has a decision to make by June 22nd on whether to go through with their plans to completely change the Hello! Project Summer concerts on these days in accordance with the government's new event guidelines:

July 11th (Sat) 12th (Sun) Nakano Sun Plaza (Tokyo)
July 18th (Sat) 19th (Sun) Orix Theater (Osaka)
July 25th (Sat) Sendai Sun Plaza Hall (Miyagi)

However, if there is a change in the policy of the national or local government about the infection situation after the decision has been announced, please understand that there is a possibility of them changing the contents of the event or canceling the performance. We will announce the situation of other locations to be held.

Thank you for supporting the annual Hello! Project concerts.
This year, due the situation of "new coronavirus infectious disease",
taking into consideration of the health and safety of our customers, performers, and people involved in the concert, Hello! Project members will each be singing a solo that is not a Hello! Project song.
They will be singing J-POP focused covers of ballad songs.

Why they did decide on this project?
After doing activities alone for so long, each member had a desire to be on stage as soon as possible.
For a long period of time, we actively took all kinds of information on their social media, etc. looked at what they could do. Combined with members ideas, we carefully made a plan to avoid the usual live format, avoiding confined spaces, crowding, and closeness in the venue, so that you can enjoy the songs easier.

The members understand the purpose of this project and started preparations on their own.
In a normal rehearsal, we have as many as 120 people including members and staff may gather, but we are
focusing on the minimizing the number of people rehearsing by put them in a designated area.

Please understand the above situation and carefully consider purchasing your ticket, including your own health.

In accordance with the guidelines for gradual restart of concert or event, seats will be sold with certain distance, please wear a mask during the performances, please sit and refrain from cheering.

Thank you for your understanding.

*A guideline for events was announced on May 25th, starting from June 19th only about 1,000 people, or 50% or less of the capacity, from July 10th only up to 5000 people, or 50% of the capacity. We are planning to hold concerts, events, etc. that are either less than or equal to the %, or whichever is smaller.

This will be so interesting and weird. But also exciting.
What do they consider ballads?
Will they do it with a liveband? (UF has musicians, I mean...) (Kaga and Maachan with a liveband, I need this in my life jklfdsjklfj)
Will it be out on DVD?
Will all of the members sing every show?
No group songs at all??

Will they air it on tv/online so people who can't go to see it (which will dramatically increase this year) will be able to?

So many questions @.@

I understand wanting to do slow songs, but why only non-H!P?
If they're looking for a ballad that won't involve chanting & movement from fans, the H!P catalogue is full of those.

I'm sure more will be made clear soon. I'm happy that they are putting in an effort to make H!P summer 2020 happen at all.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the tv asahi thing - which is taking place just a week before the concerts begin. Not wanting to do the same thing twice or something? idk.
I find it interesting that they went with H!P songs for tv and Jpop for concert and not the other way around, though.

H!P members reaction to the news :

ANGERME Ise Layla

"H!P Summer is going to be held differently than usual.

To prevent coronavirus infection, to hold a concert within the minimum range

Each member is a solo, ballad songs by various artists

It's a rare performance!

I have already decided which song to sing
I'm already singing and practicing everyday

In this way, we have opportunity to meet everyone after a long time
I am very happy to be able to do it"

ANGERME Kawamura Ayanao

"Summer Hello Con has been decided! ! ! !

It seems that they plan to change the content and performance this year! ! ! !

Singing a solo ballad song other than Hello Pro~

Wow!

Even in this situation
Singing in front of the audience
I'm really happy

Because it is a song other than Hello Pro,

Since joining Hello! Project
Songs other than Hello Pro
Singing in front of the audience
It's something that won't be easy~! !

Super rare

I want to listen to other members' ballads.

This is the scheduled date!

Ballad songs other than Hello Pro
There is a lot of them isn't there! !

What are we singing~
Please predict lol!"

Members have to practice two solo songs on their own. One for Solo Festival, one solo cover for H!P Summer.

Ayumi says she is practicing alone. They won't know what the atmosphere will be like until the day comes.

People in the blog comments are pretty intrigue by this experiment. It's a good way for members to improve their ability.

Definitely didn't expect this outcome in regards to the summer concert. I'm interested in seeing which songs the members end up singing, though.

You can't help but notice that Rin seems much more relaxed and engaged. I was worried about her for a while there.
