I think that we're getting closer to the point where video is revealing too much information and the idol world will change and only allow girls on stage who look perfect without makeup.

Most of the UHD/4K videos must have been from upscaling 1080p Blu-ray videos though. The only source for H!P contents in UHD/4K right now is cable TV broadcast. UF does not sell UHD Blu-ray yet.

Pretty much. Although some of those Youtube BD upscales to 4k are surprisingly decent faux 4k quality.

I don't suppose the 2018/2019 Goodbye & Hello will come out on 4k UHD BD, since it was aired in 4K. That would be nice.

They said that when 1080p came out, but the worst fears were mostly unfounded...turns out that just like beautiful people look beautiful in person, they look beautiful on camera, even really sharp cameras. A certain amount of imperfection is desirable in fact...too smooth and perfect winds up looking like plastic surgery or CG.

Having said that, professional tv/film productions use tools similar to this to reduce blemishes on the talent, it's just a part of the budget of a production. Studios will spend a small fortune to have tattoos digitally removed from their top talent when they are anachronistic or otherwise undesirable. As these tools become more automated and require less human intervention, it will get to the point where even dirt cheap idol productions will "fix" any distracting imperfections in their girls. It's a kind of "red queen" competitive race... as video continues to get sharper to reveal the imperfections...4K, 8K, 100K, tools will evolve to beautify the subjects.
