I wasn't that crazy about the handshake experience, tbh. At first I thought it was the creepy pedo factor, but actually no, I just don't personally like those assembly-line meet and greets. For example, if I go to a comic con or something, I pretty much never line up for signings or photo-ops. It just doesn't appeal to me generally to participate in an insincere interaction with someone who's only interested in me for 30 seconds. Plus a couple of the girls just did not seem to like doing handshakes either. They seemed to be forcing themselves to endure it.

On the other hand, it was kind of flabbergasting to see them up way up close. It was like, however good you might think they look on a computer monitor, squared. Particularly Fukuchan. Not all that impressed with her on camera, but she's way better looking in person. And she was by far the best hand shaker. She was sort of scarily good; none of the other girls even came close. She could be a professional hand shaker, like for a diplomatic envoy or something, and treaties would get signed right and left.

I laughed the most when it seemed like the most creepy of wota had a sudden realization that they were way to emotionally invested and decided they needed to reevaluate their lives.

The main reason I went to the handshake event, (other than wanting to see them in person, obviously...) is because I think that being able to convey a message to them is priceless. Since this is an overseas concert, they probably take most things into heart more. Like, if a wota in Japan goes to every handshake, and tells duu she sings great, Duu probably won't react much... But since it's overseas, they are in a different attitude... And that, that being able to convey something, really made me want to go. (Especially being able to tell harunan that I like Zelda games too and her being super happy about that xD) especially since the girls were trying so hard to prepare for this event, to understand people... They want messages to be conveyed from us, the not japanese wotas!
I have no doubt that we left a greater impression/impact on them than the past 3 handshake events in Japan have combined. XD

So is the girls actually on their way back to Japan, or do they get days off in NY? I can't find any news, so it doesn't look like they have extra activities in New York. Hope Tsunku or Maa-kun and Satoda treat them a nice meal. XD NYC has so many good restaurant (and some are unbelievably expensive.)

^^BerryzGiraffe -- I think that's an excellent reason to have gone (no matter how jaded and indifferent I sound below).

I just glanced over the commnts on that wota-in-translation page, and all I can say is that I think it's a good thing to reevaluate one's life and priorities some times. XD

I don't care much about going to handshake-type events for pretty much the same kinds of reasons that Zunu outlined. I even have to think about it a bit before I'll get in a very short line for autographs; I'm hardly shy about such things, but it just seems like no big deal to me. I didn't go to the handshake event at AX -- it would have been fun as a hanging-out-with-other-fans group experience, but there were people who really, really wanted to go, and only a limited number could get in, so I figured that somebody else could have my place in line. For me, it was strictly optional.

JPH!P's Slack
It seems they had a video production team from a Fuji TV-affiliated company there shooting a documentary for SKY PerfecTV, a satellite broadcasting station in Japan.

How do I know all this?
Because I got their director's business card.

When did I do that?
It was after they interviewed me this morning.

Why me?
Because I HAD JUST FINISHED INTERVIEWING MORNING MUSUME '14!!!!!

That's right, JPHiP got an in-person interview with all the members!
I asked the translator not to translate their answers, since that would just eat up time that could be better used for more questions!

As a result, it may take a day or two to get the full translation and transcription of the interview out on the jphip.com front page.
In addition, we need to have the photos approved by their management before we publish, but just know THIS IS A THING.

Oh, and I got a personalized signed photo from the group, plus a promotional copy of the new single a week before the release date.

Riho's outfit is so cute!

Can't wait for footage of their adventures, or at least I hope we do.
