BEYOOOOONDS Eguchi Saya is interviewed by Daily Sports newspaper and talks about her complex about being tall.







Eguchi Saya (20) of the idol group BEYOOOOONDS recently promoted the latest single "Hai to Daimond / Go City Go / Fuuku no Housoku" released on May 29th.
She also talked about her determination to turn her complex into a strength and move forward as an idol.

She is 170 centimeters tall. With her outstanding style, she has been trending as an "idol with very long legs," but her height has "always been a complex." When she lined up with the other members, she was literally head and shoulders above the rest, and she could not shake the fear that she would "look out of place." She often secretly bent her knees during photo shoots.

The turning point came last September when Kumai Yurina, a former member of Berryz Kobo, spoke to her at a concert commemorating the 25th anniversary of Hello! Project.

"It is very cool to be tall," she said. "You should be confident and walk with a straight back."

Kumai, who is 181 cm tall and is said to be the No. 1 idol in the world in terms of height, Eguchi said that Kumai's words, "stuck in my mind a lot. It was the moment when I thought I could turn my complex into a strength." "It also made me long for a job as a model," she said, taking the first step toward her new dream.

The group has been together almost 6 years since its formation in October 2018. The new song "Hai to Daimond" is "filled with a coolness that BEYOOOOONDS has never had before." The group is going through a time of change as members continue to announce their graduations.

"I think there was an expectation among the fans that things would remain the same because the group had not changed up until now. But I want you to be positive and look forward to the new BEYOOOOONDS." Having overcome her complex and changed, she is now walking with a straight back, searching for what she can do with the changing group.
