I was browsing my YouTube subscriptions and noticed this pop up. It was dead for such a long time. I’m so freaking happy she’s back doing stuff, even if it’s just short little videos.

Ogawa Mana was part of Canary Club (Part of Nice Girl Project/TNX) and a soloist, she also did a bit of voice acting too. Looking into what she’s been up to, she was supposed to make a comeback this year with a single released in April but then the world stopped so I guess she’s pumping out stuff on YouTube and Twitter? I know what I’m doing this weekend. :D I’m surprised I missed this in my feed. But honestly she hasn’t used her YouTube page in 3 years so I wasn’t keeping track.

Anyway, stoked she’s back. I’ve missed her so much!

As soon as I saw the name Tarcy, I knew it was a TU post!

DADDY!DADDY!DO! is the OP to season 2 of Kaguya-sama. The other bookend is Haruka Fukuhara's "Kaze Ni Fukarete" as the ED.

I'm a fan of Haruka as an actress but this is pretty bland even for me.

All these years I never thought to find out who originally sang this song. I loved the Whiteberry version, it’s my favorite song to play on Taiko no Tatsujin on Switch, and Berryz even covered it! (I’m probably missing a few covers

I always enjoyed whomever sang it, knowing it was a cover but never bothering to find out who originally sang it. I honestly never thought about going to the wiki. It literally just fell off my radar.

Today, Apple Music suggested I listen to this group and a long burning mystery I didn’t even know I was seeking was finally revealed.

They Have some pretty good music overall. Filling that ska void I sometimes get.

They don’t have a page on Generasia but the Whiteberry page does mention the group.

Here is the Whiteberry version.

And just because, here is Berryz. It’s my least favorite version, but they tried their best.

That English translation in the BK video seems kind of weird to me. It says that "you spotted your friends | And you walked away from me." I'm pretty sure it was the singer who spotted her friends and walked away from the boy. That's the whole theme of the song, that she could never come out and confess her feelings, and so that summer love she felt blazed hot just in those moments at the festival but then poignantly burned out, like fireworks. Plus they skipped the whole verse where the girl sits down with the guy for a chat and they talk about so many things but she could never say "I love you." IENAKATTA. That part. They skipped the climax of the entire song. Oh well, you said it Shoujo Q, they tried their best!

Nitpicks aside, nice catch! I love listening to and comparing cover versions.

^^ The Whiteberry version was the first one I ever heard, too. I bought a used Ho Son (pirate) Single Collection CD in 2002, the year I started watching HEY! HEY! HEY! and cranking up my J-pop acquisitions. I eventually got the Jitterin' Jinn version on CD, too, but that was about ten years later.

So today is May 2nd. In a normal world without COVID-19, I would be at the Warfield in San Francisco tonight to see Mandy Moore.

Avex is trying to bring back "at home" parapara dance videos, but Hinoi Team is nowhere to be fucking found *smh*

They just uploaded this generic version of Hinoi Team's 1st song "Ike Ike"

I like parapara so I've been listening to/watching a few of those over the past week, but none of the songs I've heard have really stuck with me yet.

That is Matsumoto Miyako. She would "fit in" to the current Morning Musume pretty well. Even though Ice Ribbon shows are have a lot of goofiness to them, Miyako kind of sets the standard. One of her "intimidation" moves is to move around a fallen foe while striking clumsy looking ballet moves. This gets to be really ridiculous in mixed tag matches when her male partner tries to follow her lead.

Sorry for bringing up a four year old exchange, but wouldn't you know who won the pony? Matsumoto Miyako, aka Miyacoco, is following Maro by joining some idol group:
