MM right now is the perfect blend of older and younger talent, established and emerging talent. Like Country Girls, the remaining girls have benefited from the departure of a dominating personality. Fans who have drifted away are really missing out.

The group is pretty flexible in that sense because they have the right amount of established talent as a reliable "go to", but when recording comes and suddenly other members have either improved or done miraculous takes, they have enough room to give either older (in terms of seniority) emerging talent like Erina or younger like Miki an actual chance at spotlight along with the established talent, which was showcased well in their latest single. Then, of course, there are members who are still budding who will occasionally get nudged (like Akane and Haachin getting serifus), but there's not too many members like that that it leaves the group to rely on only the same few established members single after single, resulting in predictability as to who will get lines/spotlights in new songs and issues regarding the same few people "hogging" all the lines single after single.

Three of my guy friends, on three separate occasions and never talking to each other about what I was doing, all picked Ayumin as the one they're most attracted to in Morning Musume. One said it's because she's pretty but approachable, another because her eyes are bright and friendly. These three dudes have vastly different tastes in women, too. Every time it happens I wonder what is drawing all my guy friends to her.
