2:48~ Natsuyaki, Miyamoto, Ogata "Akai Nikkichou" performance (M-line Special 2022 ~My Wish~ 2.23.22 Meguro Persimmon Hall)

Miyamoto's voice sounds really strong in "Akai Nikkichou." Her deeper register is particularly nice. All three of them sound good but Karin particularly stands out.

I'd love to hear Karin sing a Karen Carpenter song; she has the voice for it.

Takagi is more entertaining than I expected, but I'm not sure of how much of that is just me trying to figure out if she's crazy like a fox or just crazy. Regardless, I wish her success with her business venture, especially considering that her "binbosha" (penny-pinching) mom sacrificed to make sure that she would have this nest egg to begin with. So many parents wouldn't hesitate for a second to blow through whatever money their children earned.

To be honest, I'm concerned Takagi only managed to save ~$15k USD after all this time given UFP's reputation for being one of the more generous agencies. I know J=J's sales aren't the best in H!P, but she wasn't unpopular either. I'm hoping it isn't an indication she's awful with money, and that her plans bear fruit, but...given her lack of good judgment with Yuuri, I'm questioning that.

I don't know Japanese--in the video, does she actually say "this is my life savings", or just "this is money my mom saved from my J=J days"?

You're right, it's not really a ton of money. But I'd venture that even in the US, the percentage of 24 year olds who can say they have 15k literally lying around the house is pretty low. I was just saying it's good for her that her mom wasn't one of those showbiz leech parents.

boinsie has a good point though. That might be the equivalent of her "loose change drawer“ money. I mean, most people keep their major savings in the bank or investment vehicles, not piling up in the house, unless they're getting paid off the books. I can't even think of a scenario where I'd liquidate my entire life's savings just to bring it home and look at it. Here in America if you even tried to withdraw more than $10k cash at once, your bank would have to report it to the Feds.

As I understand it, Japan is MUCH more cash-oriented than Europe and North America.

Monthly bills are paid directly from bank accounts. Credit cards are accepted, but mostly for the sake of foreigners who don’t know any better. And rechargeable debit cards are mostly for public transit (trains, buses, ferries) and those shops located in or near the stations/terminals.

It’s cash everywhere else, preferably in crisp, clean, 1000-yen notes. So yeah, it’s not inconceivable for a well-off person (e.g., a former idol from a top-five group) to have that much on hand.
