I had a visceral reaction to hearing the girls talk about the recent concerts, where the fans were all seated, separated, and silent. NO! THIS IS NOT HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE!!!

As a fan in the audience, it must be REALLY different instead of being squished together thousands of people, being very plain and visible - Might either be very cool, like "hey they can actually see me now!", or might be very nerveracking, like "hey they can actually see me now!"

I would imagine that the overwhelming majority of fans in the audience want the girls to see them, especially those who make an effort to be close enough to the stage that the girls can see them in a darkened theater. I know I do.

I just don't get the short-sightedness of Japanese media companies in taking down these kinds of uploads, which will surely be stuck in a vault and never be seen again, instead of just monetizing the post, and using them as grassroots popularizers. These kinds of miserly missteps are surely part of the reason why kpop is eating jpop's lunch.

Actually J-melo uploads their guest performances onto YouTube. So I'd assume it's just Upfront that doesn't want to pay to have them uploaded.

NHK doesn't like anybody re-uploading their shows to youtube. J-MELO does not upload to youtube. UPFRONT has no control over their performances on J-MELO. NHK World only puts videos on their official on demand site which was recently implemented not long ago.
The only time NHK World allows a J-MELO performance is when they are showcasing the show for new viewers. They only upload 1 video.
